One night, two good friends, Koji and Joji, are standing guard at their outpost.
They pass the time playing cards and bickering until they are startled by noises in the forest.
Panic breaks out and swords are clumsily drawn.
But when a samurai appears at their tower, the story takes a turn and we learn that the two friends are not real guards, but two escaped farmers from the nearby village destroyed by war.
The samurai encourages the two to embark on a possible new path.
